The ATC has the responsibility of working daily in the Athletic training room of WSHS, is the primary and often sole caregiver, works under the supervision of the Athletic Director, applies the principles, methods and procedures of evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries, preconditioning, conditioning, and reconditioning of athletes through the use of appropriate preventive and supportive means.
Responsibilities:
-Prevention of athletic injuries through the following procedures: orthopedic screening; individual exercise programs for athletes with preexisting conditions; examination and recommendations regarding playing fields to ensure safety; participation in equipment fitting for football and ice hockey; and assist coaches in developing year round conditioning programs.
- Evaluate and recognize athletic injuries.
- Provide medical coverage for home contests and daily practices; coordinate emergency medical procedures for all teams at all locations; coordinate emergency medical services as needed, and follow the prescribed treatment of the team physician/or licensed physician.
- Provide for the management, treatment, and disposition of athletic injuries through injury evaluations before and after practices and referral of athletes to the appropriate health care professionals.
- Provide rehabilitation of athletic injuries when appropriate, such as rehabilitation for mild to moderate injuries as prescribed by the team/or licensed physician and provide strength and range of motions and functional testing for injured athletes to insure readiness to return to their sport.
- Maintain data and complete necessary reports as required: all physical forms, injury and progress reports; necessary insurance forms for athletes with medical referrals; daily injury report list with appropriate recommendations; and supply and equipment inventories.
- Organize pre-season physicals for all prospective candidates.
- Keep parents, coaches, and the athletic director informed of the athletes' progress in rehabilitation.
- Provide the appropriate educational programs for athletes, coaching staff, parents, and others as required.
- Provide training in first aid and CPR for the coaching staff

- Work Year (220 Days) Beginning -1st day of football (approximately 3rd week of August)
- Ends- 1 week after the final Spring Contest. Time used for inventory and record keeping
- Daily arrival 1pm. The length of the day will continue until the last activity ends. This will include weekends and holidays. Tournaments away games at the end of season will be covered if no activities are in session at the High School.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
