CAST TECHNICIAN/ORTHOPEDIC CLINICAL FITTER – SIGN ON BONUS

WILL CONSIDER TRAINING FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES


We are seeking a full time qualified, motivated Cast Technician/Orthopedic Clinical Fitter to become an integral part of our team at our Peabody, MA office at the Lahey. The technician needs to be able to cast, splint and fit patients with DME products (OTS Orthotics) to the patient population in a hospital setting. A background in providing patient care provides a solid foundation for a successful career in the world of orthopedics.

Location: 1 Essex Center Drive, Peabody, MA
Hours: 8am – 5pm


Responsibilities:

  • Duties include but are not limited to performing patient assessments, implementing treatment plans and follow-up care for the cast room and other duties as assigned.
  • Assists physicians and nursing personnel with orthopedic procedures and acts a resource for patients regarding their orthopedic care.
  • Administers orthotic braces and devices to clients with relativity stable conditions.
  • Assist in the maintenance of records and files reflecting up-to-date patient progress, care plans and related orthopedic data prescribed by physician.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies; reorder as required.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition; wash and sterilize a variety of medical supplies.
  • Meets compliance standards for accurate documentation and coding.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to work independently, and possess good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
  • Customer-focused, dealing directly with patients either by telephone, electronically or face to face interaction. Gathers information necessary to provide equipment services, payment processing and insurance benefit verification.
  • Responsible for all inventory tracking (stocking levels, shrinkage & usage) and coordination of inventory replenishment
  • Coordinate client information, gather, prepare, and process paperwork for billing, update system notes, document scanning, fax processing or photocopying and forward to appropriate personnel for action.
  • Must be willing to learn, be very flexible, possess excellent communication skills and be a team player with a desire to grow in the healthcare field.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work physicians’ hours


Experience/Skills:

  • Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent. Requires time management skills, verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and good critical thinking skills. Must be able to read, comprehend, and implement written complex policies and procedures.
  • Candidates should be comfortable in a patient care environment
  • Operational experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and resolve issues.
  • Confidentiality. This position has access to protected health information. The protected health information this position can access is demographic information, date of service information, Insurance/billing information, all medical record information. This position requires this patient health information in order to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
  • Must be able to meet the credentialing qualifications for Hospital access (Immunization records, TB Negative, Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations) and employment is contingent upon a clean criminal background, BEAS, and drug screen.
  • Driving may be required
  • Bachelor’s degree or Certified Orthopedic Technologist helpful
