The Position:
The Athletic Director will monitor the day-to-day activities of the sports program at JLS Middle School. The position will communicate by email and phone with parents and guardians on carpool, schedules and updated Middle School athletic program information. This position will provide great customer service to students, parents, coaches, and Recreation Supervisor's and school administration. The position will help the Recreation coordinator recruit for coaches and create new sports activities for the athletic program at JLS Middle School. This position will handle the marketing for our City's sports pages. This position will be a part time, non-benefited position, and will support the Middle School Athletic Coordinator for 999 hours per fiscal year. The position will be a City of Palo Alto employee.

Ideal Candidate: Experience with youth sports; administration, coaching or refereeing, and good Communication skills. Available daily 2:30pm-7pm.
Work Location: Onsite
This is an SEIU Hourly position with limited benefits that is budgeted to not exceed 999 hours per fiscal year (July - June). The number of hours per week and schedule will be determined based on assignment.
In lieu of providing a medical plan, the City grants a medical stipend of $3.48. Example $23.67 (hourly rate) + $3.48 (medical stipend) = $27.15 per hour.
Duties
- Communicates by email and by phone with customers
- Plans and conducts recreational activities for community members of Middle School aged students at one of our three Middle Schools
- Recruit for Middle School sports coaches
- Ensure facility is maintained and safe procedures are followed
- Advertise upcoming games
- Monitors practices and games
- Always on time and available Monday through Friday between the hours of 2-7 pm.
- Provides trainings for coaching staff each sports season
- Needs to be CPR and First Aid certified or get certified within 6 months of being hired
- Office will be located at a Palo Alto Middle School
- Works for Middle School Athletic Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- At least one year of Athletic Director services at the Middle School sports level &/or coached one year of Middle School Athletics

Medical Stipend
$3.64 effective the pay period including July 1, 2023.
$3.80 effective the pay period including July 1, 2024.
