Summary:
Working in a collaborative production team environment directly under the Manager of Electrics and Show Systems, this position is accountable for the execution of all aspect of show electrical integration for all, or portions of show production support and staff as assigned regarding design, development, installation, facility interface, operation, maintenance, and documentation in compliance with codes, and jurisdictional requirements for Entertainment projects. Must assure a flawless, and successful completion in alignment with creative, financial, and schedule targets for live shows, atmosphere offerings, and special projects in a themed environment. The Assistant Technical Manager-Show Electrics participates in these functions at a variety of levels, depending upon the individual project scope/need:
- For large-scale/marquee projects (as assigned), this position will provide support for all these functions, project-wide and/or have shared-accountability for one or more functions within a specific segment/assignment on the project.
- For medium-scale projects (as assigned), this position will provide support for all these functions, project-wide and/or have full-accountability for one or more functions within a specific segment/assignment on the project.
- For small-scale projects (as assigned), this position will have full accountabilities for all combined functions, project wide.
Essential Responsibilities :
Provide direct management of project initiatives in all, or portions of areas as assigned related to show electrical systems for project execution and various other show technologies
Work with various disciplines, including lighting, A/V, construction, scenic, props, and special effects to effectively develop and integrate technical elements required of projects assigned Provide guidance on scope development and technical drafting/design
Develop new and manage existing technical workflow, including facilitating the updating technical drawings as required and/or providing feedback and suggestions to creative team
Interpret creative intent documentation and work independently, or with other technical managers and designers to translate creative intent to reality while ensuring final product meets established artistic, production and compliance standards
Coordinate design documentation from contractors/vendors with an emphasis on checking for compliance with contractual requirements and specifications
Ensure project budget estimates are accurate, update to date, and inclusive of all project requirements
Oversee project schedule and punch list, and coordinate with other management staff to ensure questions are answered quickly and accurately
Coordinate transportation/movement of assets
Organize appropriate labor support including union and non-union technicians and provide site supervision during installation and facility impact phases
Support the Entertainment Production team on completion/wrap-up of new show product and assists with the transition to operational support
Qualifications
Qualifications/requirements :
- Strong leadership with ability to work well with limited information and constant change Strong in-field
Installation experience in entertainment / theme park environment
Working in fast-paced environments with accelerated production schedules
Working knowledge of stage/entertainment practices, equipment, and technologies
Proficient in CAD, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
Ability to read and interpret both art and technical drawings
Strong awareness of Environmental Safety standards
Confidence to effectively communicate across all lines of business, and with all levels of management
Must **** be available to work weekends, holidays, and nights as required
Valid CA driver’s license
Desired Characteristics:
- Proficient in Vectorworks and Lightwright
- In-field installation experience in entertainment / theme park environment
- Working knowledge of show control systems and protocols
- Ability to identify and communicate creative solutions to challenges, and to maintain a consistent focus on priorities with persistent follow-through
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, production, or related entertainment field
- 3 years of related work experience in electrical, lighting, and/or controls
- Strong awareness of Environmental Safety standards and electrical safety
- Awareness of jurisdictional electrical requirements, permitting, and inspection processes
o Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
