About the Job
The Associate/Assistant Dean of Students for Residence Programs and Auxiliary Services provides leadership in the direction and administration of the day-to-day activities of professional and student staff engaged in various residence life services. This position oversees key administrative functions, including budget planning, conference services, dining services, mail room, and other campus services. We're looking for candidates who have:
  1. A Master's degree in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or another related field.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in housing administration, preferably at the director or assistant director level.
  3. Experience with professional staff supervision, budgeting process, housing software, and student conduct processes.
  4. Experience with Ellucian Colleague or similar software.

Key Job Duties
  1. Mission Contribution Statement: CCU's mission is Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. In this role, the Associate/Assistant Dean of Students contributes to the mission by leading a robust residential program which contributes to the overall student experience.
  2. Oversee the supervision of Residence Life, Campus Services, and Conferences Services personnel, which includes hiring, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluation, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  3. Develop and implement a total residential life program that is anchored in the student community, staff relations, leadership development, programming across campus, and facility management. Provide leadership and direction to the professional residence directors and student staff, which includes championing the mission of Student Life, Residence Life, and the University within a community building and holistic campus community setting with student retention as an ultimate goal.
  4. Oversee the Residence Life professional staff in the student conduct process. The Associate/Assistant Dean will supervise the Resident Directors in the adjudication of cases, conducts training, provides consultation on student conduct issues, and ensure compliance with applicable University Standards and local/state/federal laws. S/he, when needed, adjudicates allegations of the Student Code of Conduct and assures that the management of case flow affords proper efficiency.
  5. Coordinate overall housing selection, software, placement, budget, and management in a supervisory role to the Assistant Director of Residence Life, who directly supervises this area. Provide oversight to the Residence Life Desk Worker program, responsible for basic security (in collaboration with Campus Security) and customer service needs in residential halls.
  6. Provide oversight as the University liaison with the contracted food service provider. Work to ensure excellence and contract fulfillment across all performance vectors, including customer service, technical systems, menu, budgeting, and delivery. Conduct regular meetings with dining providers and assess/deliver performance feedback. Monitor and manage financial aspects of the contract. Manage biding of contract as needed.
  7. Provide oversight of a comprehensive summer conference and event program, including recruiting, budgeting, staff supervision, contract generation, and fulfillment, mission, and execution. Staff supervision of the summer conferences will be year-round, but particularly focused from May 15-August 15th, with intermediate times during the other months of touching base, training, and planning.
  8. Establish tenant lease and licensing agreements, monthly billing, and tracking for College external leases in coordination with the Accounting Office, General Counsel, and Property Manager. Create and maintain property standards for all external tenants and licensees. Coordinate with Facilities to ensure the completion of external tenant deliverables.
  9. Provide oversight and supervision to Mail and Campus Services Department through the supervision of the manager, including hiring, training, budget development, and customer service.
  10. Play a key role in relations with university offices, athletics, admissions families and students, retention, budget management, programming calendars, and overall direction in the perception of the residence life area in terms of commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
  11. Participate in developing policies and procedures. Initiate and facilitate strategic planning, organizational development, or team-building sessions with colleagues. Identify areas for process improvements, automation, or system upgrades. Prepare presentations and other materials upon request. Represent Colorado Christian University as necessary or assigned. Manage contracts as assigned. Manage other administrative units or business areas as requested and assigned. Step into the Dean of Students role when necessary.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You will be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process. The title will be assigned based on the candidate's experience and credentials. It is expected to be an Assistant or Associate Dean, however it may be assigned a Director title if the final candidate doesn't have relevant Dean credentials. The pay range for this job is: $60,000-$75,000. Pay is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate's qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations. CCU does not determine pay based on sex or any other protected status.
Spiritual Requirements
  1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  2. Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  3. Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU's Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
