Associate Vice President, Enrollment and Retention

About this role
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management, oversees recruitment, registration, admissions, financial aid, records and student retention and success. Provides vision, leadership, program analysis and development, budget oversight, data analysis and coordination of services for a diverse student population. Develops comprehensive strategies that embrace innovation and customer-centered recruitment, Enrollment and Retention initiatives. Serves in the absence of the Vice President.
What a day of an Associate Vice President Enrollment and Retention looks like:
  • Plans, organizes, leads, develops and implements a comprehensive enrollment plan at the College, ensuring a strong link between student demand, college-wide priorities and financial planning.
  • Evaluates and ensures procedures for compliance with federal state, local institutional laws and regulations.
  • Utilizes technology and innovation to enhance enrollment processes and delivers services in a manner that reinforces efforts to recruit and retain students.
  • Communicates to college personnel and others through written and online methods administrative and informational matters as necessary.
  • Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of people reporting directly to you. Monitors and evaluates the performance of your employees.
  • Develops and trains staff. Performs needs analysis, arranges, coordinates, delivers, evaluates, and monitors staff development.
  • Liaison among departments, functions or groups, within the College. Communicates information to appropriate personnel.
  • Acts as a College liaison for programs and services with outside agencies or community leaders. Communicates program information internally.
  • Controls and monitors projects to ensure maximum effectiveness, oversees administrative details that may include consultant document reviews, contractor billings, consultant and technology contracts.
  • Attends professional association meetings as required and travels to meetings between College locations and within the community.
  • Participates in quality improvement committees and activities; plans and organizes office functions.
  • Responds to complex inquiries from all levels of employees or external sources regarding a variety of questions, such as clarification of College or Campus policy and procedures.
  • Conducts all tasks related to the preparation of and maintain compliance with annual and other periodic budgets.
  • Counsels employees on company policies, procedures and practices to ensures a sound employee relation environment.
  • Assists in the evaluation of the unit relative to its mission and suggests ways services may be refined.
  • Performs effective resolution of unscheduled or emergency assignments ensuring service continuity.
  • Acts as liaison to a wide variety of College personnel and acts as a facilitator requiring people who do not directly report to you but who provide support to the goals and objectives of your organization.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of eight years of increasingly responsible experience, in higher education administration
  • Experience in supervision

Knowledge of:
  • Strategic enrollment concepts and programs
  • Federal Financial Aid programs and procedures
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications

Skilled in:
  • Leading and motivating teams through change
  • Managing and resolving conflict in a positive manner
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
  • Strategic thinking including effective planning, setting goals, monitoring progress, tracking results and making appropriate adjustments to plans based on circumstances and context

Ability to:
  • Identify technology to support enrollment goals and streamline processes
  • Research information for problem solving
  • Identify details to assess cause and effect
  • Manage a budget
  • Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
  • Develop and deliver presentations to culturally diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
  • Regular physical attendance required
  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Some periods throughout the year will require extended work hours including nights, weekends, and college closures
  • Must complete FERPA training within 30 days of employment

The minimum base pay range for this position starts at $84,786.00 - 101,743.20 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
