Position Summary:
The Associate, Technical Project Lead is a full-time, temporary staff member of the Technology Team at LEE, reporting to the Vice President of Technology. The Technical Project Lead delivers effective and strategic management of technology platform projects in collaboration with stakeholders across teams. This role will leverage their expertise in Technical Project management to inform scope, priority level, and feasibility of multiple projects while ensuring timely communications and updates. They will provide high-impact technical and project lifecycle improvements based on the organization’s platform strategy and needs of internal stakeholders. Additionally, this role will ensure that user stories are fully captured, documented, and applied to translate business needs across teams.
The ideal candidate will drive the strategy and execution of mission-critical work at LEE with a commitment to educational equity. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have technical expertise in project management with strengths in the areas of relationship building, effective communication, and collaboration.
The Associate, Technical Project Lead is a full-time, temporary position for up to 40 hours per week through November 2024. Please note that the hiring team will be conducting interviews between the dates of March 25th through March 29th, these dates are tentative and subject to change.

Responsibilities:
Technology Project Management (50%)
Actively prioritize and manage a portfolio of mission-critical projects, assessing impact, resources, and external drivers for each project for prioritization and planning purposes
Create a regular cadence of reports and project updates to provide insight and transparency around progress to goals, budgets, and risk assessment
Leverage project management tools to track timeline and milestones across multiple projects to ensure completion
Identify and develop contingency plans to mitigate technical risks
Cross-team Strategy Development and Implementation (20%)
Establish processes and tools for effective project planning and implementation of critical technology platform projects
Identify high-impact improvements to existing project management processes, tools, and infrastructure
Serve as a project manager across intersectional work related to priority project(s) as needed
Advise the Vice President, Technology on feasibility, resource allocation, and project lifecycle adjustments
Continuous Project Documentation (15%)
Gather, research, and write user stories that translate business needs into technology requirements
Utilize user stories in acceptance testing and project documentation
Roadmap user stories and resource allotment into release schedules, communicate release schedules to stakeholders
Refine templates and approach to technical documentation for future team use
Special Projects (15%)
Lead or contribute to team-level, org-wide, or cross-team special projects to accelerate impact as assigned by manager or designee
Provide short-term coverage during a leave, vacancy, or PTO
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience (If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate’s degree an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)
9+ years of relevant professional experience including technical and project management of cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget
Demonstrated understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
Certification as a project manager (e.g., Project Management Professional Certification, Six Sigma, Scaled Agile Framework certifications) or demonstrated expertise in this area
Proven problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically, communicate effectively with business and technical teams
Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management experience within product development teams
Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Jira)
Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
Physical Requirements & Work Demands:
This position is primarily a sedentary role working with colleagues based around the country using remote technologies.
The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with staff or access office equipment.
Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.

Pay and Benefits
The position level for this role is Senior Director 2 and the corresponding hourly pay range for this position is $62.21-$97.40. Pay is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location.
