Our Mission
The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land. A nonprofit private operating foundation whose origins date to 1946, the Lincoln Institute researches and recommends creative approaches to land as a solution to economic, social, and environmental challenges. Through education, training, publications, and events, we integrate theory and practice to inform public policy decisions worldwide. With locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Washington, DC; Phoenix; and Beijing, we organize our work around six goals: low-carbon, climate-resilient communities and regions;efficient and equitable tax systems;reduced poverty and spatial inequality;fiscally healthy communities and regions;sustainably managed land and water resources;and functional land markets and reduced informality. 

The Associate, Strategic Communications will provide essential support in increasing understanding and visibility of the Center and its keyinitiatives, support integrated internal and external communications plans,and effectively communicate the organization's capabilities to target audiences.  
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, your primary focus will be on content development and managing digital presence. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a self-driven individual with excellent writing skills and a passion for engaging with audiences through creative and impactful storytelling to contribute to establishing the communications function within a dynamic and growing Center. 
What You'll Do: Writing & Content Development
    • Create engaging and informativecontent for various channels, including website, blog posts, social media posts, press releases, newsletters, and other marketing materials for CGS and the IoW Coalition.  
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and insights, ensuring accuracy and messaging consistencyin all content produced. 
    • Assist with proofreading and copyediting internal materials, as needed, including presentations and grant proposals. 
What You'll Do: Digital Management
    • Develop and maintain a social media calendar, monitor channels, and develop strategies to build brand awareness, increase followers, and drive engagement for CGS and related initiatives, including the Internet of Water Coalition. 
    • Regularly update and maintain the company website (launching Summer 2023) and related web properties, ensuring content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with brand guidelines.  
    • Analyze the performance of our digital channels and proactively propose ways of improving them. 
What You'll Do: Public Relations & Events
    • Assist in creating and distributing press releases and media pitches to promote company news, events, and achievements. 
    • Research and vet industry conferences and speaking opportunities, coordinating and managing brand placement and representative presence as needed. 
    • Help ensure spokesperson preparedness, developing briefing documents, talking points, and participating in trainings.  
What You'll Do: Brand Consistency & Internal Communications
    • Help ensure effective placement of the CGS brand alongside affiliated brands, such as the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the Internet of Water. 
    • Assist in sharing CGS activities and work with Lincoln Institute staff through internal communications channels, such as the intranet and newsletters. 
What You'll Need:
    • 2-4 years of experience in Strategic Communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a similar role. 
    • Proven experience in writing, editing, and content development, with strong interpersonal communication skills. 
    • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
    • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. 
    • A passion for technology and its potential to impact society for the better. 
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for audience engagement. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn or basic understanding of key programs like content management systems (WordPress, HubSpot).  
    • Knowledge of graphic design tools and experience in creating multimedia content is also a plus.  
$60,000 - $75,000 a year
Salary dependent upon years of experience, education, and practical knowledge of utilizing communications within various platforms listed above and/or experience or exposure within the Geospatial Solutions sector.
