About the Role
PHM seeks an Associate Research Director to join a team of compassionate and dedicated clinicians and research scientists focusing solely on the best interest of the patient and establishing a new standard of excellence in precision medicine. We are currently looking for a PhD scientist who will lead the research efforts on cases with complex health conditions, particularly rheumatological, immunological, orthopedic, genetic, rare disease, and pain related conditions. The Associate Director will review client medical records and clinical history, identify and evaluate diagnostic and treatment options including clinical trials and innovative, evidence-based therapies around the world, and develop and prioritize treatment strategies based on data in the medical literature and input from world leading experts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze patient medical records, including data extraction and tracking of lab values, symptoms, medication histories, or long-term clinical outcomes.
- Identify, review, and analyze the medical literature, including abstracts and presentations from scientific and medical conferences, across a wide range of clinical and research topics. Summarize articles and compare findings of clinical studies; present information in a patient-friendly manner.
- Research, evaluate, and prioritize treatment options for individual cases. This includes review, analysis, and interpretation of the accepted standard of care, the most recent professional guidelines, and the most current investigational approaches, as well as identifying and connecting with key opinion leaders and other experts in the field of interest, to help guide decision making.
- Identify and evaluate potential clinical trials. This includes spreadsheet creation, database searching, identification of supporting evidence, and calling trial sites to help find appropriate clinical trials for our clients.
- Create patient education documents (written reports, presentations, spreadsheets, graphs, charts, etc.) that provide pertinent information related to clinical history, diagnosis, and treatment options.
Qualifications
- PhD in a science or healthcare related field
- 3-5 years experience in non-cancer disorders such immunology, rheumatology, genetics, orthopedics, and rare disease related research.
- Ability to target and conduct internet research quickly and thoroughly including experience reviewing the medical literature (e.g., PubMed, Google Scholar)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, service orientation, written and verbal communication abilities to serve as a trusted advisor to clients
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

The salary range for this role is $106,250 - $125,000.
