Position Description
The University of Washington’s Chemical Engineering Department invites applications in computational science and engineering for a position at the rank Associate Professor (WOT), salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The open position is a full-time appointment (100% FTE) with 9-month service period. Start date negotiable after September 1, 2024. Our school offers a highly collegial and collaborative culture, with broad interdisciplinary research ties across campus.

The department currently has a core group of 21 research, teaching, and tenure-track faculty, 18 joint and adjunct faculty, and approximately 224 undergraduate, 94 graduate, and 10 postdoctoral scholars.

The base salary range for the position will be $13,000 - $19,000 at the Associate Professor level per month for a 9-month service period. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with these positions may include a one-time relocation incentive.
Qualifications
Applicants must have earned a doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field, by the date of appointment.
The applicant will have prior experience with operations of Masters programs in Chemical Engineering at a Very High Research Activity university setting. This experience should include recruiting, admissions, and advising, with an emphasis on molecular data science and software engineering curriculum development and delivery.
The applicant will have a demonstrated track record of successful research engagements with Masters students that combines course work and independent study.
The applicant will have prior experience teaching in professional Masters programs in data science and developed courses in that setting.
Applicants will have a distinguished publication record in molecular computations and/or data sciences.
