Job description

DASU Studios is looking to recruit a part-time Associate Editor, with the potential to be full-time.
The Associate Editor role will consist of photo editing and retouching, post-production work, and light administration. This person will be responsible for editing our client portraits. This includes adapting to the editing style that our head photographer has established; managing our queue of edits needed; and pushing portraits into print production.
The person must already be familiar with David's message and values he communicates to his followers. They must understand and effectively convey the brand and vision of David Suh Photography.
Job Type: In person
Schedule: Part time, 3 Days a Week, 9am - 5:00pm (with potential to be full time) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Key Responsibilities:

  • Can adapt to our head photographer's editing style and has working knowledge of retouching and color grading.
  • Prep the studio room on photoshoot days, this includes having the camera set up ready, tethering, lighting, etc.
  • Can take and follow direction, but can also collaborate in a creative space with head photographer and team
  • Manage our editing process from start to finish. This includes initial editing, communicating with clients, re-editing images per client request, and securing client approval.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with editing software and photography equipment.
  • Understand our editing workflows and file-based storage and delivery processes.
  • Responsible for managing raw images - this includes offloading, culling, and organizing images.
  • Keep to the editing schedule and provide updates to our head photographer.
  • Assist the Studio Manager with print production. This includes preparing and printing large scale wall arts, matting portraits, and designing magazine books.
  • Manage and maintaining the studio equipment (lights, cameras, SD cards, etc)

Requirements
  • 2+ years of portrait editing experience
  • A compelling portfolio with beautiful images you have either shot and edited, or images you have only edited (Preferably portraits)
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Suite, specifically Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Familiar with Canon equipment (cameras and printers)
  • Experience with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Calendar) and Dropbox
  • Effective communication skills
  • Hands on and proactive
  • Must love dogs
  • Plus: Experience working in a photography studio
