Role Title:Associate Pastor of Student Ministry

Accountable To: Lead Pastor
Purpose Statement: The Student Ministry Pastor is the chief architect and leader of the Student Ministry (5-12th grade) for the purpose of helping students find and follow Jesus.
General Expectations:
- Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, and fellowship.
- Set annual goals with the Lead Pastor that are in line with New Hope’s mission and vision and evaluate how these goals were attained or modified during the year.
- Function as a member of the church’s pastoral staff, which includes leadership with weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership for the Student Ministry with the ability to create excellent ministry programming that is age-appropriate and effective to transform teens into disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others, and serve the world. This should include a weekly Student Ministry night, small groups, and strategic events (e.g., mission trips, retreats, etc.).
- Possess excellent administrative ability to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Student Ministry, including planning and communication.
- Recognize the critical importance of adult impact in the lives of Students and so serve as the primary recruiter, trainer, and encourager of adult volunteers.
- Passionately promote small groups for students under the care of adult volunteers who are the primary point of ministry contact for students.
- Ability to incorporate Student Ministry into the family ministry emphasis at New Hope Church, which includes ministry coordination with the Kids Ministry department and intentional investment into parents.
- Be involved in personal evangelism, discipleship, and mentoring ministry with middle school and high school students, volunteers, and parents.
- Oversee theology and curriculum choices used throughout the Student Ministry.
- Intentionally follow-up with all first time students and properly help them assimilate into the Student Ministry.
- Be a community presence by intentionally attending youth events at schools and in the community to establish and build relationships with youth and parents.
- Intentionally communicate and champion the Student Ministry to the Elders, staff and church community (e.g. through social media or Sunday morning updates).
- Ensure all aspects of the Student Ministry adheres to the New Hope Protection Procedure Policy.
- Devote 20% of weekly ministry time (8 hours) to an additional pastoral focus to be determined based on gifting, experience, and training.
- Consistently meet with the Lead Pastor (as often as determined)

Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
- Must have proven experience in Student Ministry in a local church.
- Must be in complete agreement with the mission, values, vision, philosophy of ministry, and doctrinal positions of New Hope Church and have a willingness to become a member upon hire.
- Key Skills: Must have proven ability to build, organize, and lead a team. Must be relational and bring enthusiasm in leading the Student Ministry. An ability to leverage media and social media for ministry advantage is preferred.
- Key Attitudes: Must be a team player with a “do whatever it takes” attitude, self-motivated, teachable, organized, and works well with others. Must have a strong work ethic and willingness to represent Jesus and New Hope Church well in the community.
- Key Passions: A heart for students and families and their spiritual formation. The right person for this position will have a calling to work with students and a willingness to stay in this role for a minimum of 4 years.
- Must have proven ministry experience in areas that match this job description. Ministry and/or theological training (e.g., a bachelor’s or M.Div. degree) is desired but not required.
