Associate Materials Manager
The Associate Manager - Materials is a key role to the Pierce Manufacturing Materials team. This role will lead a team with responsibility for vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and expensed materials, material planning, and materials data analytics. The Materials team is here to ensure efficient and timely delivery of materials and services in support of production. YOUR IMPACT:
- Evaluate the processes used to store and distribute materials by vendor-managed inventory and the indirect expensed materials process.
- Develop and manage materials planning processes to improve material availability in a dynamic manufacturing environment with the use of data analytics support.
- Grow the application of Advanced Analytics within the Materials organization.
- Coach and develop materials team members and address employee relations issues as they arise.
- Manage to the budget.
- Participate in review and goal setting processes for materials personnel.
- Review and update departmental procedures to ensure ISO compliance.
- Train employees on the process for material planning changes and expensed material transactions.
- Work with Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and suppliers on correct documentation required for materials received and invoiced.
- Develop process to secure and protect inventory stored at supplier locations.
- Review daily shortages due to inventory errors and determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Organize and execute special inventory counts.
- Drive continuous improvement of materials processes and metrics.
- Engage cross functionally and lead activities in planning facility layouts.
- Work closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Engineering, and Finance to ensure optimal throughput and productivity.
- Other materials-related projects and assignments as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Three to five plus years of related work experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Detailed oriented individual who is highly organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with all levels of employees
- Experience with ERP, VMI, material planning, Kanban, and PFEP
