Job description

TMC, a LinQuest company, is seeking an Associate Material Planner to join our team at our office in Las Cruces, NM. Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required

The Associate Material Planner will assist with monitoring the efficient movement of material from identification of the requirement to delivery to the end user. Associate Material Planners are a liaison between the Program Manager(s), Manufacturing, Engineering, IPT’s and other functional leads, along with the Supply Chain organization, including Procurement, Logistics, and Production Control. Assist with ensuring manufacture of stock products to fulfill customer requirements. Ensures manufacture of custom-engineered products that are designed, developed and manufactured in response to a specific customer request or contract.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the identification of raw material and component requirements for production from engineering and production specifications and schedules
  • Generate purchase requisitions to support future build needs
  • Track material quality and initiate actions to extend or eliminate expiring material
  • Assist with material movement between warehouse and production areas
  • Assist with purchasing, production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate quantities of materials are always on hand
  • Support and assist with activities within multiple disciplines across the Supply Chain process
  • Assist and continuously evaluate supplier performance and escalate to Procurement when issues occur.
  • Work with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements.
  • Assist in communication to production planners for solutions when parts cannot be delivered as promised.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and drive improvements in order to optimize inventory levels and safety stock.
  • Assist in expediting deliveries to meet and exceed scheduled critical requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for their parts.
  • Assist proactive shortage identification and management.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • 1-3 years of material planning experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of industry related supply base.
  • Experience in production and supplier scheduling.
  • Knowledgeable of supplier processes and capabilities
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with rate based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required
  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment and be solutions oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio is required.
  • Experience with Purchasing and Finance Tools including Deltek Costpoint

Preferred:

  • Ability to develop a knowledge of Government Contracting and an understanding of FAR/DFAR/DPAS/CPSR Compliance.
  • Ability to effectively interact with upper management and within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain principles and concepts in defense contracting
  • Advanced degree in related field
  • Industry Certification -NCMA Certified Contract Management Associate (CCMA) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)
