Prudential has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Actuary supporting the Retirement Strategies Institution business. The individual will work on the team responsible for the design, development, testing, release, and support of inforce end-to-end models for institutional retirement products. PRS is a critical business segment, representing $300B+ in liabilities and ~40% of Prudential's earnings.
This individual will help generate and implement insights and analysis that support the business and contribute toward enhancing capabilities as well as supporting new products and business initiatives. They will have exposure to models built in multiple systems, including PolySystems, Python, and C#, and will work as part of a team of ~30 actuaries across the US and India.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lean into agile best practices to drive culture of technical excellence, focus on prioritization, value, and outcomes
- Lead model conversions, transformation, enhancements, and testing efforts and provide ongoing model support for the Institutional Retirement models and E2E processes.
- Design solutions and be able to communicate solutions to less technical audiences.
- Improve Processes & Capabilities: Leverage technology to streamline existing processes and create new capabilities to add value.
- Partner with Valuation and model vendor PolySystems on requirements and to test model enhancements.
- Work closely with Technology partners to create a seamless end-to-end user experience around model runs, both for baseline Valuation / Forecasting and other required uses.
- Collaboration & Communication: Actively engage with partners and key stakeholders across the company to share results and best practices.
- At least 2 years of relevant actuarial experience with a proven track record of high performance.
- Highly motivated individual with an ownership mentality who can work equally well independently and in a team environment.
- Strong quantitative modeling and analytical skills; ability to understand and explain complex quantitative concepts and end-to-end models/systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audience.
- Superior technical skills. Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, and other coding languages preferred.
- Creative problem-solver and results-oriented
- Fast learner and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
- Knowledge in institutional retirement products such as pension risk transfer and long duration targeted improvement a plus.
- Professional designation (ASA/FSA, CERA, and/or CFA) or progress towards is a plus.
- Open to remote/virtual location outside of commutable Newark, NJ location.
