The Associate Hospital Administrator 1 will be Director of Nursing in a Long Term Care facility.
License as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required for this job
Under the administrative direction of the Chief Executive Officer of a grade 1
psychiatric hospital (200 or more clients) in the Department of Health, a large
long-term care facility (200 or more residents) in the Department of Military
and Veterans Affairs, or in the Department of Human Services or Cannabis
Regulatory Commission, organizes, develops, and directs systematic
administrative support services and/or clinical services to ensure that division,
institution, and accrediting standards are maintained. In the absence of the
Chief Executive Officer, may assume the duties of planning, directing, and
coordinating all hospital or facility activities to maintain full patient care in
accordance with accepted standards; manages staff and work activities;
prepares and signs official performance evaluations for subordinate staff;
does related duties as required.
The person will act as Director of Nursing for the Veterans Home
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree
in Hospital Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, Business
Administration or Mental Health Administration, Psychology, Social Work,
Nursing, Rehabilitation, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of administrative experience managing a significant service of
program in a psychiatric or general hospital, large mental health facility, or
social services agency dealing with the mentally ill.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess a Master's degree may substitute
one (1) year of additional experience as indicated above.
NOTE: In the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, appointees may be
required to possess a valid nursing license issued by the State of New Jersey.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey
only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary
to perform the essential duties of the position.
SPECIAL NOTE: Appointee must possess the ability to physically lift, move, and position clients as needed.
NJ State Law (N.J.S.A. 26:2h-18.79) requires all health care facility employees to have the influenza vaccination annually.

RESIDENCY LAW: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act,” which became effective September 1, 2011, all persons newly hired by the Judiciary on or after that date shall have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New Jersey state employees hired prior to September 1, 2011 who transfer from within the Judiciary or from another State of New Jersey appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days but who reside outside the State of New Jersey are not required to change their principal residence to New Jersey in order to comply with the Act.
