A Leading Textile Brand Company is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our dynamic, exciting team. Under general direction of the General Counsel, this person will play an integral role in our growing company by assisting in and advising on transactions and/or contracts. This full-time role is located in our Dallas, TX headquarters.Responsibilities to include:
- Proactively learn and work with internal stakeholders to determine that area's transactional/contract needs in conjunction with the best practices for the company overall
- Review, draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of simple to complex commercial agreements, amendments, renewals, etc.
- Provide legal advice, counsel, and support on relevant issues, risks, business impacts, strategy, and agreement structures in a fast-paced environment
- Responsible for the continuous improvement and standardization of internal commercial legal processes and agreements as the company grows at a fast pace
- Research and advise on federal and state regulations as they apply to current and prospective business operations
- Advise internal leaders and owners in assessing short term goals in the context of long-term goals and/or strategy
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership to help drive growth
- Act as a problem-solver to assist stakeholders in operating in compliance with applicable law and regulation
- Effectively and efficiently work with other in-house subject matter experts and outside legal counsel
Experience, Skills & Ability Requirements:
- A Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited university and an active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state/jurisdiction; preferably Texas
- 5-8 years commercial litigation and/or transactional/contract negotiation experience in a law firm or in-house legal department (preferred qualification – at least 1-2 years' experience litigating contract disputes)
- Knowledge of and/or experience with contracting outside the U.S. preferred
- An entrepreneurial, business-centric mindset
- Ability to work on short deadlines and quickly turn around assignments
- Ability to work with all levels of management and leadership and communicate advice in a way they will understand
- Ability to work as a part of culturally diverse team, including working across multiple time zones and languages
- Ability to work with outside litigation counsel to manage deadlines and litigation costs
- Ability to work in the United States and pass a background check
