Job Description
Job Summary:
The Associate General Counsel will provide legal services and support to the company and its affiliates in a wide array of areas including contracts, labor and employment law, compliance, entity formation and governance, intellectual property, and international business.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development of company legal strategy to promote and protect the organization’s business interests
- Oversees the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish organizational goals, strategies, and priorities
- Provides pragmatic, focused legal counsel on transactional matters, interpretation of contracts, applicable laws, rules, and policies
- Researches and analyzes complex legal issues relating to labor and employment laws
- Advises executive, senior management and operating business managers on various matters such as legal rights, and new and existing laws
- Leads the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of three to five years of comparable law firm and/or in-house experience
- Background in corporate law (contract law, transactional law, employment, and labor law)
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school with strong academic credentials
