Job Title: Product Development Technician
Job Type: Full-time
Reports to: Senior Food Scientist
Position summary:
The Product Development Technician will be responsible for supporting internal projects relating to frozen dough products. This position will assist the New Product Development team with a focus on supervising new product production runs and administrative tasks. The Product Development Technician will support the NPD team with current product maintenance and troubleshooting on the production line as well as gain an increased understanding of the stage-gate process for new product development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing and organizing production line samples for new products or troubleshooting of current products.
- Assist NPD team with benchtop samples in the test kitchen.
- Assist Corporate Food Scientist in completing recipe and product updates for new and existing products – including all necessary documentation.
- Administrative duties including but not limited to: record keeping, correspondence with vendors and customers.
- Take initiative and ownership over projects and tasks assigned.
- Conduct shelf-life testing on new or re-formulated products.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, follow GMPs.
- May be asked to perform other tasks or handle other responsibilities that might not be listed above.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field. Working towards a bachelor’s degree is also acceptable with an interest in learning Food Science.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Must be highly organized with attention to detail.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Experience working in a food production/manufacturing facility and familiarity with manufacturing equipment is a plus.
- Experience in bakery or similar industry
- Local candidates strongly preferred, or willing to relocate to the area.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Must be able to lift up to 50LB.
- Must have flexibility in work schedule – ability to come in as needed – weekends and evenings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
