As the Associate Enterprise Architect role at Best Buy Health focuses on guiding enterprise leaders, product managers, product owners, and distributed product delivery teams through transformation and optimization initiatives. In collaboration with senior architects, the Associate Enterprise Architect aids in the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture framework. This role ensures that technology solutions are aligned with business strategies and provides valuable insights for IT operations. What You’ll do
• Assist in enterprise data modeling and design, warehouse and database management strategies, and data integration and ETL standards.
• Support comprehensive assessments of the organization's application portfolio, identifying redundancies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business needs, and prioritize applications for rationalization.
• Develop and execute a strategic plan for application portfolio rationalization, considering factors such as business value, technical debt, alignment with business goals, and ROI.
• Define criteria and evaluation methods to determine which applications should be retired, replaced, consolidated, or modernized.
• Collaborate in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of effective portfolio management tools that cater to enterprise needs.
• Provide technical leadership and expertise to cross-functional teams, guiding them in making informed decisions regarding the rationalization process.
• Collaborate with application owners, business units, and IT teams to ensure a holistic approach to portfolio rationalization.
• Help identify opportunities for application modernization and recommend suitable technologies, architectures, and migration paths.
• Drive the transformation of legacy systems to align with current and future business needs, leveraging cloud and other contemporary approaches.
• Perform cost-benefit analysis to quantify the potential impact of portfolio rationalization efforts, including operational cost reductions and improved agility.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership to secure buy-in for portfolio optimization initiatives.
• Effectively communicate the rationale, benefits, and progress of application portfolio rationalization to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Basic Qualifications
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT engineering roles (i.e. software application, data, and infrastructure development)
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience across multiple portfolios (i.e. CRM, supply chain, ERP, manufacturing)
• Comprehensive understanding of application lifecycle management and current software development practices
• Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks (i.e. TOGAF)
• Experience with cloud technologies and their integration
