The new business book imprint at Simon & Schuster is seeking an Associate Editor to support Executive Editor and Editor. Successful candidates have 3-5 years of experiences working on nonfiction titles are highly organized with excellent communication skills, great attention to detail, and an ability to learn quickly. A positive attitude with a keen eye for problem solving and interest in the publishing industry as a whole is preferred.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Administrative support to editorial team including scheduling meetings and video conferences, filing expense reports, award and prize submissions, galley and finished book mailings, and other administrative duties as needed.
2. Reading and assessing book proposals.
3. Read and evaluate manuscripts and give feedback to team.
4. Draft p&ls, acquisition materials, tip sheets, catalog copy, and flap copy
5. Filing expense reports and booking travel
6. Co-editing with Executive Editor and acquiring 2-4 business titles per year
7. Working across departments to manage work flow, using in-house systems and the Microsoft suite

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
