Naviga has been engaged to recruit an Associate Editor for the US market.

Responsibilities:
- Independently write news articles for the website, e-newsletters, digital, and print publications, with an emphasis on news in the vascular and venous disease spaces
- Be responsible for the entire print and digital production cycles for one or two of our key publications: from idea generation, story list creation, writing and editing, to working with a London-based graphic designer and editors in line with the editorial calendar
- Responsible for the preparation of articles for publication, including writing, copyediting, and proofreading text for sense, consistency, spelling, grammar, and house style
- Supporting the work of other editors, making decisions on editorial content, and ordering and commissioning relevant articles
- Writing, editing and commissioning content, organizing layout and sending medical newspapers to print
- Updating websites and social media channels on a regular basis
- Managing and editing fortnightly e-newsletters
- Newsgathering at key conferences in North America
- Interviewing key thought leaders in the field
- Liaising with directors, editors-in-chief and external organizations as well as the advertising sales department to generate content leads
- Preparing project ideas and solutions to produce other supplementary materials for the newspapers
- Requires direct interaction with physicians as well as industry professionals to help raise brand awareness and boost advertising sales and sponsored content
- Collaborate with individuals with high levels of responsibility, including physicians, editorial board members and industry partners, as well as internal staff
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a working journalist/editor in a publishing environment is a must
- Highly motivated and have the ability to produce a variety of content with tight deadlines, often putting together content for print and web at short notice.
- Have a keen interest in medical news
- Proficiency in AP Style
- Confident using MS Word, Excel, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Some graphic design experience is beneficial.
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enjoy the fast-paced and demanding environment of a growing and ambitious media company
- Flexibility to travel across the U.S. to attend conferences is essential (including on weekends)
