Position Title: Associate Director, Scientific Engagement
The Associate Director, Scientific Engagement will report to the Director, Scientific Engagement, and will work closely with Director, Integrated Evidence Team Lead, Director, Operations and Strategy Engagement, and Head of Scientific Affairs to assume a key role within the organization. The Associate Director, Scientific Engagement will execute external engagement with key stakeholders within prioritized Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN) and health systems to deliver and translate proactive and reactive scientific data. This individual will provide clear, informative, fair-balanced and compliant responses to medical information requests from healthcare professionals. May be a remote position from a home-based office. Requires domestic travel of approximately 30-50%.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
- Develop key IDN account or health system scientific initiatives that establish partnerships and projects aligning with Esperion’s mission and vision.
- Speak publicly and author communications, and presentations; lead discussions with stakeholders spanning healthcare providers to health system executives
- Deliver formulary presentations and scientific support to Market Access colleagues and managed care organizations
- Identify and effectively interact with thought leaders to engage in appropriate scientific exchange with approved scientific content.
- Execute approved field scientific communication plan under the direction of Scientific Affairs leadership.
- Provide clear, informative, fair-balanced and compliant responses to medical information requests from healthcare professionals
- Contribute to the cross functional teams in the development of IDN and health system-related strategies and plans in support of annual scientific affairs’ planning; advocate for budgetary needs in support of objectives
- Collaborate with Professional Education teams to provide scientific support/coverage of medical meetings
- Participate in US life cycle management or indication teams and contribute to data generation and communication strategies and may contribute to research activities including clinical investigator identification or other study activities as directed by Scientific Affairs leadership.
- Act as scientific subject area expert to specific indications and/or products and/or activities to internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify IDN formularies, EHR systems, supply chains and level of control within key targeted IDNs and health systems
- Understand IDNs’ and health systems’ capabilities and initiatives for clinical research, real world evidence acquisition, quality improvement, and implementation science; identify the intersection with Esperion’s scientific approach
- Balance the needs of customer-facing engagements with involvement in internal discussions requiring cross-functional alignment and coordination
- Champion high standards of compliance, ethics and patient safety
- Work proactively with high engagement and independence

Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Minimum 8 years pharmaceutical experience and/or clinical experience
- Advanced degree with experience in lipid management, cardiometabolic disease management, or quality improvement
- Cardiovascular, cardiometabolic, and/or lipidology subject matter expertise required
- Thorough understanding of the healthcare environment including all external stakeholders
- Ability to lead technical discussions internally and externally and explain scientific/medical concepts to all levels
- Ability to establish trust through the consistent demonstration of scientific/medical expertise and satisfactory follow-through
- Track record of cultivating and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders in the relevant fields
- Attention to detail in analyses, deliverables, and communications
- Excellent presentation and communication skills; must be able to provide succinct, strategic, and actionable insights to senior management
- A proactive self-starter who can lead work independently, with the ability to see the next step and act without prompting.
- Strong interpersonal skills particularly motivational, negotiation, listening, judgment, analytic, and conflict management skills, and demonstrated ability to lead teams
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing and expanding environment
