The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights activist organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO and the OSCE, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe. The SWC is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Jerusalem and Buenos Aires. The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC. Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in 2024.
About the role:
The Museum of Tolerance is seeking an experienced education professional to be responsible for the successful administration and implementation of all activities of Tools for Tolerance® for Educators.
Tools for Tolerance® for Educators is an acclaimed interactive, experiential Professional Development program at the Museum of Tolerance designed to help California educators fulfill their potential both as people and professionals. Over 100,000 educators have successfully completed programs both virtually and on-site since 1996. These dynamic Professional Development programs provide customized workshops, facilitated dialogue, and teacher guide resources for creating inclusive and equitable schools and are designed to address the challenges facing educators today in K-12 and beyond. Programs are currently being offered in-person and virtually.
About you:
You are passionate about anti-bias education and social justice, and interested in advancing the Museum’s mission, maintaining the high standards of the program, and providing motivational leadership.
This position will report to the Director of the Museum of Tolerance and is based in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement Professional Development programs and events using the assets of the MOT
- Oversee administration of grants including budgets and reports
- Outreach to our major partners such as the CDE and LACOE
- Supervise staff and adjunct faculty, including workshop presenters and facilitators
- Maintain relationships with our longtime consultants, presenters and facilitators (30+ppl)
- Help recruit new adjunct faculty
- Actively recruit participants and promote established programs across all California schools
- Liaise with school partners to create customized, relevant programs for Educators
- Represent the MOT in educational forums, councils and committees
- Conduct ongoing evaluation and maintain quality control
- Stay abreast of the latest research in the field
- Other job related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate by the Director of the Museum of Tolerance
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 5 years educational leadership experience
- Management experience is a must
- Demonstrated experience with program design and Development for professional training
- Excellent presentation and dialogue facilitation skills
- Meticulous administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Highly motivated, shows initiative, and has ability to problem solve
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite
- Personality profile to fit into a safe, inclusive, open and collaborative culture that requires teamwork and significant interaction with employees at all levels
