Gardner-Webb University is seeking an energetic, dedicated and passionate professional with student service and operational experience to serve as Associate Director of Operations for Financial Planning.


The Financial Planning Office is dedicated to providing students and their families with friendly, efficient and responsible services. We continually strive to be innovative in financial aid delivery as well as help support institutional enrollment and retention goals.

While maintaining compliance and upholding office policies and procedures, the Financial Planning Office assists students in obtaining resources to achieve their educational goals through the administration of federal, state and institutional aid and educates them regarding financial and academic responsibilities associated with the receipt of that aid. This leadership role is responsible for the operation and enhancement of our technology platforms used to capture, store, and process information related to the administration of Financial aid as well as the design of operational activities that result in the timely and accurate awarding, disbursement, and tracking of student aid. Working closely with the Director, this team member will maintain oversight of the daily office processes and continue to strive to improve processes and enhance efficiencies for all entities we serve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily data exchange with federal gateways and entities (SAIG, COD).
  • Load, process, and monitor application records (ISIR’s) and correction records to review and determine which students are eligible to be awarded and assign groupings for all aid applicants.
  • Generate various data analysis reports as requested such as quality control reports for over-awards, reports to award all students (Day, GOAL, and Graduate), etc.
  • Gather and provide financial aid data as needed for various surveys.
  • Coordinate, plan, and lead all functions related to the financial aid module of native Banner.
  • Participate in training to keep well-informed of Financial aid regulations and software enhancements; responsible for documenting technical procedures and training, as needed.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology and other university consultants with the implementation of Financial aid module upgrades/software.
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing the Financial Planning Office Staff and daily operations in the absence of the Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Previous financial aid leadership and experience preferred.
  • Experience with Banner or similar student software and Microsoft Office products preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Title IV regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-based environment, manage conflicting priorities and work under deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and handle confidential information in a discrete and professional manner.
  • Team player that shares our commitment to enhance the student experience and give exemplary customer service.
