Job description

The Associate Director, Digital Data Solutions will provide guidance and support on building a next-generation data ecosystem within IT organization. This role is key to implementing scalable Data Solutions in support of Commercial & Medical Affairs organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish a data foundation, and vision, execute solutions/approaches, and enhance the capabilities of Exelixis Commercial Data ecosystem.
  • Responsible for building data pipelines using cloud technologies such as AWS, DBT, data catalog and orchestration tools.
  • Exploring new/emerging technologies that enhance capabilities within business teams
  • Establish standards in CI/CD practices to improve data quality and scalability.
  • Serve as a proactive, consultative business partner with the rest of the IT & and business stakeholders and support their data science and advanced analytics needs.
  • Bring strong relationship management skills in working with peers, colleagues, senior leadership, and vendor communities.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, with and without external third-party partners/vendors, with direct supervisory and people management responsibilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direction to other individuals.
  • Supervises staff, including hiring, scheduling, assigning work, and reviewing performance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Education:
  • BS/BA degree in a related discipline and ten years of related experience; or,
  • MS/MBA degree in a related discipline and eight years of related experience; or,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
  • Deep techno-functional experience in Data & analytical capabilities eg. Data engineering, data lake/warehouse (data mesh), data catalog, data observability, job orchestration, analytical modeling.
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical experience in Commercial Operations, market access, government pricing, rebates, sales, and marketing.
  • Built data products using SAFe or agile frameworks and applying product-centric principles.
  • Ability to lead and manage agile teams in deploying data products.
  • Significant experience with Python, DBT, ELT, SQL, AWS Glue, Athena for building scalable data platforms and pipelines.
  • Experience in integrating customer master data management data into sales/marketing datasets.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in large organizations to solve complex problems and manage large amounts of information
  • Establish strong relationships with the ability to communicate meaningfully to all levels of stakeholders
  • Effective written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, DataOps
  • Experience in using agile delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence etc.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills and knowledge with the ability to understand the big picture
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, able to translate complex concepts across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of cloud technology infrastructure, environments, and integrations.
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy; ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate on projects involving multiple teams, manage client relationships, and present to audiences.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $171,000 - $243,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.
In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan. Exelixis also offers employees the opportunity to purchase company stock, and receive long-term incentives, 15 accrued vacation days in their first year, 17 paid holidays including a company-wide winter shutdown in December, and up to 10 sick days throughout the calendar year.
