We are seeking an Associate Digital Director to join and grow with the Hager Sharp Creative/Digital team.
The Associate Digital Director manages social media and digital deliverables and activities, leads digital-related tasks for larger contacts, and may direct digital-focused accounts. They are responsible for supporting the account and creative teams’ strategic thinking, creativity and innovation around digital and social media. They hold responsibility for client service, quality assurance, talent development and the efficient operation of the team(s) supporting that work. They possess and demonstrate expertise in a range of digital and social media-related tasks, including digital analytics, digital research, social media monitoring and management, paid media buying, and website and application development, and can advise account teams on the strategic use of these tasks and mentor and supervise junior staff. They stay up to date on trends in digital, paid media, and website development, and is a recognized and respected leader both within and outside the Firm. Through thought leadership and other visibility activities, they bring positive attention to the work of the Firm. They support the identification of attractive business development opportunities and play a significant role in the efficient and successful pursuit of those opportunities.
Client Service
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and planning, including discerning and articulating a clear and effective path forward, anticipating future trends and needs, seeing the big picture and applying a broad perspective, articulating vision, and creating innovative plans that work
  • Manage and oversee the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of specific client projects, accounts, and/or task areas, such as digital and social media engagement, social content creation, social media and digital monitoring and research, paid media, reporting, and web and mobile projects
  • Maintain timely and thorough understanding and awareness of key issues relating to the digital and social media landscape and ensure regular transfer of that knowledge to relevant staff
  • Counsel clients effectively with minimum oversight required from the Director of Digital Strategy
  • Budget hours and resources needed to complete creative projects and manage work within set budget and timeline
  • Deliver excellent client service, including attending promptly to internal and external requests, keeping creative team and project managers abreast of progress, developing and seeking input on solutions for any issues that arise, and ensuring that all work performed is strategic, creative, innovative, and error-free
  • Review work from junior staff to ensure high-quality digital and social media-related client deliverables
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple large projects concurrently
  • Maintain timely and thorough understanding and awareness of key issues relating to client(s)
  • Ensure adherence to all client contract requirements as relevant to the digital and social media strategy
Business Development
  • Maintain and expand business with existing clients
  • Generate new business leads through networking, relationship building, and prospecting
  • Drive marketing, visibility, and thought leadership efforts, including engagement on Hager Sharp’s social media channels
  • Lead or support proposals, presentations, and pitching for opportunities related to digital and social media work, including establishing the strategic approach and developing the program, writing and editing key sections, developing a strong relationship (where possible) with the prospective client(s), developing budgets, and leading and managing the proposal team
  • Lead the development of proposal sections related to digital, social media, and paid media
  • Budget digital-related costs and assumptions for the budget/business proposal
  • Identify needs for external proposal development or teaming support (e.g., freelancers, teaming partners) and help secure such support
  • Participate in brainstorms and generate strategic, creative, innovative ideas for proposals
  • Support general new business as requested
  • Mentor the digital team in developing proposal sections and budget
Leadership
  • Supervise and mentor digital team staff to develop and enhance their strategic, client service, project management, staff management, business development, digital, social media and paid media, and integrated marketing skills
  • Provide timely, thoughtful, and thorough performance evaluations for direct report(s)
  • Develop and deliver presentations in an effective, persuasive manner
  • Actively participate in corporate strategy and decision-making as a member of the Management Team
  • Spearhead specific agency-wide initiatives as needed
  • Demonstrate strong thought leadership, present new design techniques and trends agency and creative teams, and actively seek visibility opportunities to bring positive recognition to the Firm
  • Build towards a thorough understanding of client and agency project management and accounting & finance systems
  • Fulfill all administrative duties in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
  • 10+ years in digital or social media or related field; experience in an advertising, communications, and/or design agency setting required
  • 3–5 years of senior management experience
  • Expertise with digital tools such as HootSuite, Sprout Social and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically to advance client projects
  • Strong team management, project management, budgeting, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff for optimal growth and productivity
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple large projects concurrently under tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to develop strong, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
