Position Details Dept Number/Name: 0-6147-001 / Dept of Medical Ed Core College Division: USFHealth-College of Medicine Salary Plan: Faculty Job Code/Title: 9002 / Assoc Professor Hiring Salary/Salary Range: Negotiable Position Number: 00054789 ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The Department of Medical Education (DME) in the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is headed by Dr. Bryan Bognar, Chair & Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Dr.

Bognar is responsible for the oversight of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program and Graduate programs curriculum, all MCOM student services (Student Affairs, Admissions, Student Diversity, the Experiential Learning Center), the School of Physical Therapy, the Athletic Training Education Program, and the Physician Assistant program. The Chair/Vice Dean also works collaboratively with Graduate Medical Education (GME), Continuing Professional Development, and the Deans for the College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Public Health to advance the education mission across the MCOM and USF Health. DME (including the MCOM student services) currently consists of 10 faculty members and ~ 50 administrators / staff members.

The primary clients for DME are the medical students, DPT students, PA students, the doctoral, post-doc / masters students, and the faculty / staff educators for the medical and graduate program curriculum. The department interacts with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and healthcare providers across USF Health, USF and other institutions. POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Dean works collaboratively with the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs and the other MCOM associate and assistant deans to improve the student experience and learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative duties: Collaborates with the V.Dean for Educ Affairs & MCOM Associate & Asst Deans to improve the student experience & learning environment Lead efforts to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that builds community among the student body & faculty Supervise Asst. Dean for SA (Student Affairs), Lehigh Valley campus, Director of SA, Asst Director of wellness, & Asst. Dean for career advising & Office of SA staff Serve as primary contact for Students needing personal, financial or academic advising & support, triaging them to appropriate services Develop, implement & evaluate the student wellness program & coordinate support with student mental health programs Organize, facilitate & evaluate the scholarship awards selection proccess & serve on student Financial Performance Review Committee Work collaboratively with Asst.

Dean for career advising to develop, implement & evaluate a high quality general & specialty career advising program for medical students Student advocate in promotion & disciplinary processes Provide support for medical student gov, interest groups & extra-curricular activities Monitor & maintain all aspects of SA in compliance with relevant LCME standards/elements Develop & maintain system for provision of student health svcs incl immunizations & post-exposure prophylaxis in collaboration with Medical Health Admin Organize & oversee all major student events Teaching duties: As appropriate to subject matter expertise and interest. Other duties: As assigned. Including research and clinical opportunities as may align with faculty member's interest, and appropriate to discipline.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor.

PREFERRED: DO, MD, or PhD degree and academic credentials for faculty appointment at level of associate or full professor. Experience in undergraduate medical education with at least five years of experience in an administrative role. Demonstrated ability to develop and complete long-range strategic goals and priorities, with excellent planning and organizational skills.

Demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to collaboration, with the ability to influence and motivate constituencies. Ability to be proactive, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, work with little supervision, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to implement effective policies, processes, and procedures, and to evaluate their effectiveness with a goal of continuous improvement.

Evidence of successful mentoring of students and/or trainees. Experience with diverse stakeholders and student populations. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
