he College of Design, Cons ruc ion and Planning invi es applica ions for he posi ion of Associa e Dean
for Research and S ra egic Ini ia ives. his is an IN ERNAL search and he applican mus be a
curren permanen facul y member a he Universi y of Florida.
he College of Design, Cons ruc ion and Planning consis s of he Depar men of In erior Design, and
he Schools of Archi ec ure, Cons ruc ion Managemen , and Landscape Archi ec ure and Planning. In
addi ion, he in erdisciplinary Doc oral Program, Program in His oric Preserva ion, and Program in
Sus ainabili y and he Buil Environmen involve facul y from all academic uni s, and are vibran
con ribu ors o he College's academic and research missions. he College is also a leader in online
educa ion wi h several degrees, cer ifica es and individual courses ha fur her enhance i s academic
programs. Over 1800 s uden s are enrolled in he College, 1300 of whom are undergradua es and
abou 500 in gradua e degree programs. he Associa e Dean will provide oversigh for all gradua e
academic programs and will ac as liaison be ween hese programs and he Gradua e School as
needed.
Our curren facul y is comprised of abou 120 people wi h abou wo- hirds of hese enured or in
enure accruing posi ions. In academic year 2022-2023, he College a rac ed jus under $7M in
ex ernal research gran s. he new Associa e Dean will lead he research effor s of he College,
bo h funded and unfunded, and will represen he College wi h he UF Office of Research. he
College seeks an experienced researcher wi h his/her own well developed research agenda, who
will also men or fellow facul y and s uden researchers while fos ering grow h in research
produc ivi y.
he Associa e Dean will have a enure home in one of he College's academic uni s bu will repor
direc ly o he Dean. he Associa e Dean is responsible for:

• Overseeing gran proposals, awards and pos -award compliance.
• Working wi h s aff o main ain accura e financial records associa ed wi h funded research,managing cos sharing agreemen s, and preparing performance me rics.
• Represen ing he College wi h he Gradua e School and Office of Research.
• Designing and coordina ing he College's annual Research Symposium and/or o her collegewideresearch dissemina ion and/or par icipa ory even s.
• Fos ering excellence in scholarship and research wi hin he College.
• Suppor ing a cul ure of collegiali y, professionalism, and innova ion in research.
• Coordina ing wi h he Gradua e School and College uni s o recrui and re ain Gradua e andPhD s uden s while fos ering diversi y.
• Main aining oversigh of facul y affairs, wi h a par icular focus on enure and promo ion ( & P)issues, men oring arrangemen s for junior facul y, and career developmen oppor uni ies forfacul y.
• Ensuring he effec ive running of he College's gradua e programs.
• Developing a men oring program for facul y and doc oral s uden s.
• Serving as a member of he college's Adminis ra ive Council.
• Under ake o her adminis ra ive du ies as needed by he Dean.
• eaching assignmen s may be assigned, if necessary.

Commensura e based on experience, educa ion, and qualifica ions.
Minimum Requiremen s:

• erminal degree in one of he following disciplines: archi ec ure, cons ruc ion managemen ,
  his oric preserva ion, in erior design, landscape archi ec ure, urban and regional planning or
  o her rela ed fields.
• Focused scholarly work ha has led o a sound publica ion record.
• S rong rack record of funded research.
• Adminis ra ive or leadership experience.
• eaching experience.

Preferred Qualifica ions:

• PhD
• Professional licensure
