PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Associate Data Scientist supports the mission of Aspen Surgical by building upon our strong analytical capabilities. This position will leverage advanced statistical, machine learning, data mining, and visualization. This position will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting large datasets to provide valuable insights and recommendations to enhance commercial and operational effectiveness. The Associate Data Scientist must be able to communicate complex quantitative analyses in a clear, precise, and actional manner to executive level audiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Other duties may be assigned

• Provide thought leadership on solving complex problems through leveraging advanced analytics.

• Advise on business and technical processes for building, deploying, and maintaining advanced models.
• Develop and maintain data and statistical models to support predictive analytics and forecasting projects.
  • Example projects:
    • Recommender model to guide sales efforts by leveraging customer, product, and transaction data.
    • Customer order-inventory allocation optimization models through use of commercial solvers.
• Clean and standardize input data to refine predictive models.
• Build effective reports and processes that empower and grant insight to users.
• Document practices to ensure repeatability.
• Ensure adherence to data ethics and security standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field: computer science, data science, statistics, economics, or related field of study.
• Python: Hands-on experience with ML/AI libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.)
• SQL: Can read and write ANSI-compliant code to read data from OLAP sources.
• Visualization: Can build and communicate findings through Power BI report development
• Other: exposure to dbt and MLOps concepts and tooling preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Strong time management and the ability to prioritize assignments.

• Demonstrated experience driving results and process improvement.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently to meet deadlines.
