Compensation: $108,965 Annually
Status: 100%, Full-Time, Regular, Exempt
Probation: 180 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Senior Services department supports and enriches the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people 50 years and older, with an overarching goal of successful aging in place. In this effort, the department provides a broad array of social, educational and support services to LGBT seniors, all of which are free or low-cost. We have an expanding population of LGBT homeless population and are growing as a department to include on site affordable housing for LGBT seniors.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Senior Services and as part of the Seniors Services management team, the Associate Director of Participant Engagement and Equity will improve overall Participant Engagement, and satisfaction while addressing participant grievances. The Associate Director will be a core member of the management team of the department and lead our efforts to eliminate interpersonal and institutional racism, bias, and other forms of oppression within the Senior Services program while creating and implementing opportunities for staff development and training, Participant Engagement and satisfaction. The ideal candidate possesses the capacity to work with LGBT Seniors addressing the unique needs of the population, fostering positive Participant Engagement while identifying and reworking systems to better support participant and staff needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop and implement a vision and strategic plan to increase participant/staff/volunteer engagement centered in the framework of equity principals at the department level utilizing staff and participant feedback and needs assessment data.
• Provide leadership to the management team and staff on implementation of the strategic plan.
• Collaborate with the Center’s Research and Marketing and Communications department on the development of a white paper, presentation and other materials on the results of our SHINE needs assessment survey and strategic plan which targets the needs of Bipoc LGBT Older Adults.
• Present white paper and strategic plan to executive leadership, department staff, participants, partners, and community.
• Track progress on strategic plan goals and provide regular updates on progress.
• Develop and implement equity focused training with evaluation to participants, staff and volunteers to create a department culture of positive customer service, community building and equity which integrates the diverse needs of program participants and staff.
• Support Participant Engagement, retention and equity efforts by prioritizing excellence in service provision and customer service for multiply marginalized participants.
• Engage with participants by providing positive regular interactions at each department location to provide positive opportunities for engagement and feedback.
• Participate in meetings with Center Equity Office and committees to align department level with organization wide equity plan.
• Provide departmental project planning and coordination for Center and department specific events that honor cultural heritage and representation.
• Develop and implement a progressive discipline system for participant concerns.
• Intervene, when necessary, with participants who violate Center policies to address and document behavioral concerns and provide staff support, utilizing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
• Provide training and coaching to staff on progressive discipline system.
• Respond and document participant concerns and grievances.
• Increase Participant Engagement including but not limited to participant/resident advisory boards, written feedback forms, surveys, speakers council; and skill share opportunities.
• Develop volunteer opportunities for Participant Engagement and activities programming
• Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
• A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
• Experience in related field or Master’s Degree in Social Work, a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience providing assessment, crisis intervention and de-escalation with complex populations.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, project management and advancing organizational change.
• Familiarity with implementing an intersectional analysis and developing solutions to complex challenges.
• Experience maintaining confidential information, understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements, and pass HIPAA certification training for HIPAA compliance (within 90 days).
• Within 30 days of hire, successful completion of ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.
• Working knowledge of issues impacting LGBT older adults in ethnically and socio-economically diverse urban and suburban environments and/or experience providing direct services to unhoused populations.
• Effective administrator and communicator with strong speaking, writing and listening skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated skills in facilitation and interpersonal skills, including being collaborative, highly organized and working successfully within a team.
• Excellent verbal, written, time management, interpersonal, research and computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Knowledge of strengths-based, trauma informed models of service delivery.
• Demonstrated skills in de-escalation of participant behavior.
• Bilingual skills, a plus (English/Russian, English/Spanish, American Sign Language).
• Able to work alternative work hours during evenings and weekends when scheduled.
• Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
