We are looking for an Assistant Treasurer to work with our dynamic team in the Accounting Department located in Hoquiam, WA. This position will co-partner with our Treasurer to manage the accounting professionals and functions in their day-to-day activities. An ideal candidate would have 5+ years of experience working within an accounting department in various support job roles, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting with prior experience in a financial institution and has a good working knowledge of financial accounting and generally accepted accounting principles. The successful candidate will have strong computer-based accounting and business information systems experience, preferably in a banking environment, and a good working knowledge of all bank-related departments, excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills, along with effective oral and written communication skills, as required. In this job position there may be potential for job growth, contingent on performance and a demonstrated capacity to assume more responsibility and leadership within the department.
In this job position your essential duties will include:
- Assisting in managing, training and supervising the accounting department staff.
- Oversees accounting activities such as B&O tax returns, accounts payable, fixed assets, investments, wire processing, payroll, cash ordering for branches/ATMs and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist the Treasurer with closing the books monthly and preparing schedules for quarterly and annual filings.
- Collaborating with both front and back-office employees with varying levels of authority, regulators, external and internal auditors, and outside business partners.
- Monitors due from accounts for adequate liquidity and execute/approve fund movement.
- Manages investment and borrowing transactions per instructions from CEO, CFO or Treasurer.
- Oversees the balancing of all general ledger accounts and ensure the core system remains in balance.
- Ensures compliance with internal controls, anti-money laundering regulations, and other rules governing cash transactions and banking.
Work Environment: Office setting / non-remote. You will routinely use standard office equipment including computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands: This position requires: manual dexterity, the ability to open filing cabinets, lift files, bend, stoop, and / or stand for long periods of time as necessary.
