Working Title
Assistant Tennis Coach
Brief Summary of Job Description
The Assistant Tennis Coach will work closely with the Director of Athletics and the Head Tennis Coach in the overall leadership of an NCAA Division II program. This individual will assist in planning, developing, implementing, communicating and administering the goals of this position in order to help fulfill University and Department objectives. Exhibiting behavior that enhances the respect for student-athletes, the athletics program, the University, and yourself in the conduct of your professional responsibilities will be expected. This individual is required to assist in the direction and control of athletics in accordance with NCAA, MIAA, and University rules and regulations. Violation of NCAA, Conference or University rules on the part of Athletic Department personnel may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the UNK Tennis Teams.
Job Duties
Coach - communicate and teach the fundamentals and philosophies of the game, practice and game preparation; Clerical - Book hotels, transportation, logistics including expense reports, CARA logs; Recruit - proactively pursue relationships with PSAs and agents alike; Off-court - analyze video, work with athletic training and sports performance staff, tennis camps; Serve as a professional leader and role model to the student athletes within the program.
Required Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 1 year Tennis Coaching experience at the collegiate level, including practice planning and in competition coaching. Demonstrated success with recruiting and retaining qualified student athletes from diverse and multicultural backgrounds. Understanding of rules and regulations of the sport of tennis at the collegiate level.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: More than 1 year of collegiate or professional coaching experience. Experience with running various tennis camps and programs to support a program. Certification or coaching education within a recognized sport association.
