Position Description
GTC’s Assistant Superintendent’s responsibilities include assisting the Superintendent with the overall day-to-day supervision of field related construction activities, but not limited to: schedule and timely completion of trade work, control of onsite labor and materials, oversee quality control program, adherence to the contract documents and overall responsibility for a safe and secure environment. The Assistant Superintendent has a more hands-on approach to the day-to-day operations and is essential to assisting the Superintendent on the job.
Responsibilities
- Help manage day-to-day field activities and schedule to ensure timely completion of tasks and overall project schedule.
- Help enforce compliance with the contract documents, compliance with OSHA Regulations, responsible for weekly safety meetings, JHAs, Toolbox Talks, and compliance with Stormwater Regulations and inspections.
- Establish and maintain dimensional controls, including oversight and back check of 3rd party survey personnel.
- Help ensure compliance with local jurisdictions, schedule and engage in building inspections.
- Help Superintendent conduct weekly subcontractor meetings as well as participate in weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings.
- Manage self-performed work to ensure timely completion and cost control as well as quality control of self-performed and trade work prior to and post installation.
- Manage project close-out and punch lists to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain daily paperwork; timecards, toolbox talks, email correspondence, help with schedule updates, delivery tickets, quality control checklists, etc.
Minimal Qualifications
- Experience in the construction industry with a commercial general contractor engaged in general building and civil construction.
- Experience as an Assistant Superintendent with a commercial general contractor engaged in general building and civil construction.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written.
- Current safety credentials to include OSHA 10hr, 1st Aid and CPR.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of construction means and methods associated with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical construction.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other software commonly used in the construction industry.
