Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Site Director-Faculty Group Practice.
In this role, the successful candidate The FGP Assistant Site Director is responsible for providing leadership support and overall
administrative direction for the NYU Department of Psychiatry's clinical programs including the Tisch
Hospital Inpatient Unit (HCC-10), Consultation Liaison (CL) and Emergency Department (ED), as well
as the Housestaff & Medical Student Mental Health Programs (HSMSMHP), the Ambulatory Transplant
Psychiatry Program and the Psychosocial Program for the Perlmutter Cancer Center. In conjunction with
the Psychiatry Chief of Service/Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and leadership of the Medical School and
Hospital, develops and implements strategic and financial goals related to management of the departments
clinical programs and align with the missions of the institution. This role is a dual report to the Chief/Vice
Chair and the FGP Ambulatory Site Director.

Job Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Oversees the financial management of all clinical inpatient and outpatient programs within the
department, excluding the Faculty Group Practice. Monitors these budgets regularly and reports on the
financial performance of each area/program throughout year. Prepares variance reports outlining any
deviation from the approved budget. Determines changes necessary to address resolution of variances.
Prepares analyses consistent with the business plans and/or agreements with the hospital for funding.
Oversees the development of business plans for all programs in the clinical department, including
planning, analysis, and implementation. Provides administrative support to the Chief/Vice Chair,
Attending Physicians and House Staff on developing and monitoring workload and revenue indicators
(i.e., discharges, length of stay, denials, outpatient referrals, etc.). Analyzes data and makes
recommendations to the Chief/Vice Chair. Develops strategies to ensure optimization of funding and
financial support for professional activities. Oversees the preparation of all budgets. Develops strategies
for cost containment and maximization of revenues. Maintain proper faculty and staff salary allocations
through MSS. Oversee moonlighting/supplemental payments to medical staff. Approve travel and
expense reimbursements.
FACULTY RECRUITMENT AND SUPPORT
Provides administrative management support to the Chief/Vice Chair and other leadership faculty in the
recruitment of new faculty. In conjunction with the Chief/Vice Chair, develops and implements strategic
plans for the recruitment of faculty in areas targeted for growth jointly with the hospital. Develops a
business plan for review and approval by the Chief/Vice Chair and coordinates development of the offer
letter. Oversees the administrative support provided to ensure all practicing/admitting physicians
providing care to patients at NYULMC are appropriately onboarded, appointed, and credentialed. Ensures
that all necessary paperwork is initiated and completed and guidelines are followed. Manage Change of
Responsibility (COR) letters for faculty as roles are adjusted. Communicates recommendations for faculty
appointments and promotions to the Department Appointment and Promotions Committee (DAPC). In
conjunction with the Chief/Vice Chair, complete annual faculty performance reviews. Submit timely
faculty terminations. Manage the clinical content for departmental website.
COMPLIANCE AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT
In conjunction with the Chief/Vice Chair, oversees and implements policies and procedures such as time
off policies, moonlighting, etc. Ensures compliance in all areas of responsibility including annual
mandatory trainings, influenza vaccination, annual health assessment, annual disclosure reporting, etc.
Assures compliance with regulatory mandates of JCAHO, New York State Department of Health, New
York City Department of Health and Rules and Regulations and Bylaws of Medical Staff. Oversees
ongoing development and coordination of the Departments QA/QI process, including coordination with
Hospital QA committees and compliance with Hospital QI reviews. Develops and processes changes
required in order to comply with new or changing regulations. Develops and approves effective complaint
procedures. Ensures that policy changes are documented thoroughly. Communicates new policies and
procedures and regulatory changes impacting the department or division with medical and non-medical
staff as indicated. Establishes mechanisms/processes that facilitate compliance and assist in reinforcing
hospital and school policy changes and regulatory requirements.
MANAGEMENT OF STAFF
Manages administrative staff for the inpatient unit. Directs and coordinates administrative personnel to
assigned tasks and projects. Interviews and hires staff based on objective criteria; explains to employee
clearly what his/her responsibilities are and the applicable performance standards. Brings to the employee
attention areas of performance needing improvement as soon as they are recognized with a plan and a
time frame for correction; identifies areas for growth as well. Implements the Schools disciplinary process
in accordance with School of Medicine guidelines. Approaches the performance review process
constructively and conducts it in accordance with Human Resources and departmental guidelines and
procedures. Serves as a mentor to the staff in the performance of their duties.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree and 6-8 years experience in medical practice management and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a large multi-specialty Group Practice or academic medical center; masters degree preferred. Successful track record in leadership and staff management. Strong understanding of the theories, principles and processes of physician office and revenue cycle management. Demonstrated success in working with physicians. Experience with IT systems used in medical management. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Good written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Highly self motivated and directed. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree preferred.
Prior experience with professional or facility billing preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,479.20 - $142,282.14 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
