Primary Job Responsibilities:

Assist the General Manager in the oversight and supervision of the daily operations of the restaurant with an emphasis on increasing profitability by building sales and controlling costs through effective hiring and training of management and hourly staff, efficient and high quality food production, delivery of exceptional guest service, community building and event planning, maintaining clean and functional building/grounds, and rollout of any company/restaurant level procedures and initiatives. Serve as the point of contact for staff and district administration in the absence of the General Manager.

Physical Requirements:

• Maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for an extended period of time while performing with quality and accuracy.
• Withstand exposure to possible food allergens including but not limited to; meats, fish, nuts, dairy, and oils
• Withstand exposure to and work with cleaning chemicals.
• Properly use and clean kitchen equipment, knives, etc.
• Lift up to 70lbs constantly.
• Lift from floor to shoulder constantly and overhead infrequently.
• Twist, reach, & bend frequently.
• Adhere to schedule that includes an average of 55+ hours per week and rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Flexibility to cover shifts as needed even when not previously scheduled.

Skills/Qualifications of Ideal Candidate:

• 1 year of Assistant Manager experience at any Bear’s Restaurant Group location (Internal)
• 1 year of Assistant Manager experience and successful completion of Bear’s Manager Training (External)
• Positive Annual Review (Internal)
• Ability to participate in AGM Mentor program which may occur on “off-schedule” hours.
• Demonstrated high level of commitment to the Bear’s brand and company mission
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and cultivate a positive work environment
• High School degree or equivalent
• Prior restaurant management experience (5 years preferred).
• Proof of valid ServSafe certification or obtain within one month of hire.
• Attend sexual harassment training within six months of hire.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation. Must be able to drive to perform regular errands such as banking, intercompany item pick ups, attend off site meetings and trainings, etc.
• Willingness to move and/or travel to different business markets.
• Strong catering/to-go and events background.
• Experience in managing beer, wine and liquor and knowledge of state and local liquor laws.
• Knowledge of financial statements; including P&L, labor reports, cost of goods, sales & product mix, etc
• Great verbal & written communication skills and strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Advanced computer skills or ability to learn new skills quickly; excel, word, google docs.
• Business math and accounting skills, and strong analytical & decision making skills
