Job description

The Indiana University School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity of an Assistant Research Professor within the team led by Drs. Anita Bellail, and Chunhai “Charlie” Hao, in Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine for protein structure-guided drug discovery, which focuses now on anticancer and antiaging drugs.
Our team investigates targeted protein degradation for the discovery of small molecule degraders. The team has recently reported the first small molecule degraders of SUMO1 protein as novel anticancer drugs (Bellail et al. Science Translational Medicine 2021, 13:e12947). The team has submitted a manuscript on the discovery of small-molecule degraders of amyloid procurer protein (APP) for treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The team is currently working on Cryo-EM and NMR structures of molecule degrader-induced protein complex and thus developing the structure-guided and AI-powered drug design.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Experimental design, execution, interpretation, and publication
  • Development of molecular and biochemical methodologies
  • Collaboration with team members

The position is funded by NIH and other foundation grants and salary is based on the IUSM standards on the experience of the applicants. The position is available for an initial appointment of one year, renewable for subsequent years.
