ASSISTANT RECREATION DIRECTOR

This position is responsible for administrative and managerial work assisting with the planning, organizing and directing of various divisions of the Recreation Division, including, but not limited to the, Aquatics Division, Athletic Facility scheduling, sports leagues and Community Centers. Work is carried out with great independence, initiative and judgment under the supervision of the Director of Recreation. The Assistant Recreation Director assists in managing Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Leaders, Inclusion Recreation Supervisor, Golf Course Manager, Aquatic Supervisor and Aquatic Leader. This person will assist with the oversight of recreational programs and facilities, including but not limited to: four community centers, one outdoor pool and two indoor pools, nine Before and After the Bell school sites, and a thirty-hole municipal golf course. Plans, develops and implements aquatic and recreation programs, facilities and services. Plans, directs, manages and oversees community centers, youth, adult, and 62+ programming, and aquatic facilities scheduling, operations, maintenance.
Requirements of Work: Successful candidates will have graduated from a college or university with a baccalaureate degree in Parks and Recreation Management/Administration or Public Administration or a related degree, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Also required is excellent communication skills and ability to work with populations from varying cultural backgrounds.
Necessary Special Requirements: Successful candidates will be a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) and a Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP). Must possess a valid Class C driver's license in good standing. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
Non-Union position – Grade C51 – Salary range: $76,021 - $96,312/year.
