Essential Duties:
Assists in planning chemical dependency counseling programs; and coordinates the delivery of counseling services to offenders with histories of chemical use, abuse, or addiction.
Provides a comprehensive evaluation from a battery of valid measurement tools to assess the recovery needs and the re-offense risk of offenders.
Participates in the Individual Treatment Plan based on the severity and characteristics of the offender as determined by the comprehensive assessment, review of collateral information, and the Clinical interview.
Provides counseling and recovery skills training; participates in offender orientation, educational and individual and process counseling groups in compliance with program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Maintain a Therapeutic Community (TC) within the facility working closely with correctional staff to create a living environment that is peer driven.
Maintains offender records and other records regarding services provides to include statistical feedback on evaluations; and compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
At the conclusion of the program, and Individual Progress Summary will be developed for each offender on caseload to reflect the evaluation results together with comments about the offenders level of participation and quality of completion in the SAFPF/IPTC programs.
Submit a copy of the Individual Progress Summary to the Parole Division to be included in the Parole Case Summary.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; accreditation must be recognized by Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major coursework in Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
Each year of experience as described below more than the required three (3) years may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
Three (3) years full-time, wage earning program administration or counseling experience required.
Current licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DHSH), or current certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professional or a current valid Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) licensed to provide substance abuse treatment.
Therapeutic community environment and supervisory experience preferred; must hold current CPR and first aid certifications.
A valid drivers license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
Must successfully complete TDCJ approved annual in-service training requirements and pass annual background check. Must maintain valid license or certification for continued employment.
