The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering's (CTAAE) - School of Engineering (SoE) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Systems and Industrial Engineering discipline. The individual will teach and develop undergraduate and graduate level courses and perform externally funded research in areas such as operations research, facility design, supply chain modeling, and other industrial and systems engineering areas. The successful candidate will help to continue to develop the curriculum to ABET accreditation standards. The successful candidate will have the skills needed to interact with external companies as input to the curriculum and engage in industry projects and research. The expected start date is August 12, 2024.
The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering is experiencing a significant growth in enrollment, especially in the SoE. The School of Engineering is one of three schools in the CTAAE (the other two being the School of Aviation and the School of Built Environment). The State of Ohio recently approved BGSU the ability to offer three additional engineering programs in Electronic and Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering with the first courses in these programs to be offered in the Fall of 2024. Here at BGSU we are taking an 'applied engineering' approach to our new engineering programs compared to a traditional engineering science approach. Applied engineering approach meaning that majority of the engineering courses that will be taught in our respective disciplines will have an application laboratory course associated with it. The SoE also offers four technology related undergraduate programs and three graduate programs including an M.S. in Logistic Systems Engineering. The SoE has about 1,000 students, 20 full time faculty and staff, and over $1.5 million externally funded grants from National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Defense.
