Job Description
The Department of Language and Literature at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses beginning fall 2024.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Will teach four sections each fall and spring semester. Courses include first-year composition, sophomore literature, upper level courses in the early modern period, including a Shakespeare course and graduate level courses in the Online M.A. Program in Cultural Studies. Will remain active in research, professional development, grant writing, and service to the university and profession. The position also requires active participation in recruitment and retention activities for the undergraduate and graduate programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Earned PhD in English with specialization in Renaissance/ Early Modern English literature from a regionally accredited university in hand by time of appointment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Aptitude in general education teaching, including first-year composition and sophomore literature
- Ability to teach Shakespeare courses. Preferred areas of expertise complementary to program needs may include Digital Humanities, Archival Studies, Black Studies and/or African Diaspora, Feminist Theory, and non-traditional perspectives in Renaissance and Early Modern English studies.
