Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The department is seeking a Photography instructor who is a dedicated educator and practicing artist to teach all levels of undergraduate courses in Photography including: Intro/Advanced Photography, Visual Art Senior Seminar courses, and courses in the college liberal arts core including Art Appreciation and Freshman Writing. Though we do have a small dark room on campus for students interested in traditional photography, our photography courses are digital. Applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to educating and supporting diverse student populations are strongly encouraged to apply.
The department invites applications from and is committed to hiring candidates from groups that are underrepresented in the field of visual art and within our faculty body. We welcome candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious perspectives to their teaching and scholarship. Our department operates within Regis College which serves a diverse student population in terms of race, ethnicity, religious identity, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socioeconomic status. As of fall 2022, 50.23% of students in the Regis College undergraduate population identified as students of color, and 33.38% of students identified as Hispanic/Latino/a/x. Of the total undergraduate population 32.73% are first generation. Our incoming classes are now majority first generation students, and we offer generous scholarships that draw many low-income students to our campus. We seek applicants eager to work with and support our increasingly diverse population.
"In accordance with its Jesuit Catholic mission, Regis University is committed to maintaining a humane atmosphere in which the civil rights of every individual are recognized and respected. Regis University does not unlawfully discriminate in either the provision of educational services or in employment practices on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, creed, ancestry, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, physical or mental disability, or any other characteristic protected by local, state, or federal law. Within this context, Regis University does reserve the right to give employment preference to persons who demonstrate by word and practice a commitment to the University's mission and educational goals." This statement is intended to indicate clearly that the University is morally committed to the principles of nondiscrimination. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply to this position.
As a Jesuit Catholic University, we are open to hiring candidates of all faith backgrounds. In addition, we encourage applicants who identify as non-religious and find secular avenues to uphold Jesuit values. We are also supportive of our LGBTQ+ faculty members and have a strong queer community of students and faculty on campus.
