Assistant Professor of Sociology, Criminal Justice, & Environmental Studies
The Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice and Environmental Studies at Canisius University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in August, 2024. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or closely related field. ABD will be considered, with the expectation of a conferred degree by the time of appointment. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include critical approaches to the study of crime and reforms of the Criminal Justice system, with a focus on police and corrections. Research and/or publications in the fields of police, corrections, or reforms of the Criminal Justice system is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $58,000-$68,000 annually
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time faculty's date of hire and include - health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time faculty with contribution from the University after one year. One year waiting period may be waived provided the person was employed in higher education for at least one year full time within three years prior to hire date. University contribution would not begin until proof of prior service is received. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty and their qualified dependents.
