Job Summary/Description:The Department of English and Modern Languages at Angelo State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Creative Writing (Fiction) with an open secondary specialization. The Department seeks a dynamic and innovative teacher and emerging creative writer with a strong publication record and creative agenda to teach in our undergraduate and graduate English program.
Located in San Angelo, Texas, Angelo State University is a Hispanic-serving institution with a population of over 10,000 students. A dynamic department, the Department of English and Modern Languages serves graduates in our MA in English program and undergraduates in a variety of majors and minors: literary studies, teacher certification, creative writing, technical and business writing, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and linguistics.
This faculty member will teach a 4-4 contract in creative writing courses and courses in a secondary research or creative field both online and face-to-face. Creative writing courses include introductory creative writing courses, workshops, and possible courses in creative-nonfiction or memoir. In addition to creative writing courses, this faculty member would also be expected to teach composition, literature, and upper-level and graduate courses. This position also requires a commitment to the Department’s creative initiatives, including the student literary journal and the annual Writers Conference in Honor of Elmer Kelton.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to teach fiction writing at all levels and courses in a second specialty and promise of future publications.
Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. in English required by August 2024 with publication record in fiction writing with specialization in another area.

Preference will be given to candidates with diverse and wide-ranging teaching experience that may include distance education.
