- Teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester
- Primary responsibility for teaching 2D and/or 3D computer animation courses, including Foundations in Animation and Animation Capstone
- Additional teaching responsibilities assigned based on professional background and expertise
- Foster the development of department curriculum and the Animation major within the context of the School of Media Arts & Design
- Work collaboratively with IT and colleagues in the college to keep lab, software, hardware, facilities, and equipment up to date with Animation technology
- Ongoing professional development and education related to teaching, scholarly/creative work, and our evolving technological/creative field
- Active participation in scholarly/creative projects and professional organizations
- Other responsibilities include mentoring students and student projects, assisting with student organizations, student academic advising, and service to the department, university, and community
- M.F.A. and/or terminal degree in Animation or related discipline
- Area of specialization in 2D and/or 3D computer animation
- Experience and fluency with multiple animation workflows and software (e.g., Clip Studio Paint, Toon Boom, Maya, 3DS Max, After Effects, Cinema 4D, Unity, Unreal Engine)
- Experience teaching animation courses such as Foundations in Animation, 3D Modeling, 3D Animation, 2D Animation & Motion Graphics, Stop-Motion Animation
- Expertise in animation principles, aesthetics, and theory
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as a team
- Demonstrated commitment to diverse, equitable, and inclusive pedagogy, and an ability to work successfully with students, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds, including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
- Work with campus I.T. and department to manage animation software, labs, and equipment needs on the MSUM campus.
- Advise Animation students academically and be available to mentor students, in person, during projects.

- Ability to teach and/or interest in developing courses such as Animation History, Animation Studies, Character Design & Rigging, Environmental Design, Lighting & Texture Design, Immersive Design, Game Design
