Job Description:
The Department of Kinesiology at McDaniel College invites applications for an Assistant Professor/ Coordinator of the Health Sciences Major with expertise in Human Anatomy and Physiology, or related field. This is a nine-month, full-time, benefit eligible, tenure track position that will begin in the fall 2024.
Duties: To teach five undergraduate per year. There is a particular need for courses in Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and their associated labs. The remaining teaching responsibilities will consist of other introductory and upper-level Kinesiology classes that align with areas of expertise as assigned by the Department Chair. Opportunities may exist for new course development. As coordinator, this position will provide guidance and resources to students throughout their undergraduate careers. Duties in Health Science Major program support include but are not limited to advising and mentoring, preparing, and administering career readiness workshops; and building a network of local, regional, and national partners to facilitate internship and career placement of graduates.
As part of the Kinesiology Department team, the successful candidate must be an excellent teacher, remain active in their scholarly discipline, and participate in the life of the College beyond the classroom. Candidates should have experience in-or the potential for building an equitable and inclusive scholarly environment in teaching, mentoring, and service.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Anatomy, Physiology, or relevant field is preferred; advanced ABD will be considered. Two or more years of experience delivering instruction at the college level required. Knowledge of allied health careers and their associated educational / admission pathways a plus. The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching grounded in inclusive pedagogy, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, advise undergraduate students, and participate in faculty service and governance. The ability and willingness to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and academic backgrounds is essential.
