The Computer Studies Department of Notre Dame of Maryland University within the School of Arts, Sciences, and Business is actively seeking an Assistant Professor with expertise in Computer Science. This full-time, tenure-track position will commence in August 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing a range of undergraduate courses encompassing programming, web design, and database concepts. Specific courses including upper level courses such as System Analysis and graduate level courses such as Data Security . Additionally, they will collaborate closely with existing faculty to adapt to dynamic enrollment patterns and develop new and innovative courses.
We are keen to onboard a faculty member who appreciates the richness of a liberal arts education. Faculty members are expected to immerse themselves in the University's culture, embodying its mission. Regular teaching load is 7 semester courses per year. The role extends beyond classroom instruction, encompassing student advising, active participation in major University events, scholarship pursuits, and service to both the University and the Department. Candidates should be open to online course facilitation. Moreover, there's an emphasis on engaging in research that may involve undergraduates or exploring the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline. A strong commitment to exemplary teaching and prior teaching experience at the college level are essential. Though not mandatory, post-doctoral experience and a background in computer science research or pedagogy research would be advantageous.
