The position provides focused leadership and support for a practitioner-focused cohort-designed Ed.D. program in Community College Leadership and an on-campus Ph.D. with a concentration in Community College Leadership and career education. This professor will have opportunities to collaborate with the Belk Center for Community College Leadership. The leadership, scholarship, and teaching of this new colleague is expected to enhance the excellence of the academic community and contribute to the College of Education’s overarching goal of leading the way in North Carolina and beyond to increase postsecondary completion and success to ensure improved social and economic mobility for all.

Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a record of scholarly research, publication, and externally sponsored work with a content focus on community Community College student success.
- Focused research in one of the following: Community College completion, teaching and learning, transfer, and reducing opportunity gaps among Community College students.
- Develop courses for the Ed.D. program in Community College Leadership and Ph.D. concentration in Community College and career education, and contribute to program design, development, and evaluation of programs
- Chair dissertations in the Ed.D. (applied problems of practice) and Ph.D.
- Teach (hybrid, face-to-face, and online) courses
- Effectively recruit, guide, and advise graduate students in the Ed.D. and Ph.D. programs
- Provide collaborative leadership to advance the success of students to solve problems, with particular attention to research and scholarship in one or more of the areas; student success, access, completion, transfer, labor market, and alignment of education and work.
- Co-direct the new Ph.D. program with a program faculty member by supporting recruitment and retention efforts.
- Contribute to the overall departmental, college, and university missions through research, teaching, and engagement/outreach service
- Engage with colleagues in collaborative curriculum design and planning, contribute to the intellectual diversity of the department, and mentor doctoral students
- Collaborate with the Belk Center for Community College Leadership aligned with areas of research and scholarly expertise

Administrative Supplement Duties:
Provide leadership for the MAT program in developing a CBE online program alternative to the existing DE MAT program along with other college-level work on CBE as needed.
- A doctorate in higher education or a related area with the ability to develop scholarship and research
- A minimum of two to five years of work experience in postsecondary education, Community College, or equivalent settings
- Demonstrated experiences in mentoring and guiding graduate students through research/dissertations
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply skills of effective digital instructional technologies within courses
- Clear commitment to interdisciplinary research projects and collaborating with faculty in and outside of the institution
- Plan to develop or have an established record of scholarly research and publications appropriate for a Research I University (very high research activity)
- Ability to teach both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Ability and desire to obtain large funded research as PI or Co-PI
- Demonstrated capacity to work with diverse students as well as to prepare future education professionals to work with diverse populations
- Experience with multiple teaching and mentoring modalities and the ability to develop online course content, including synchronous and asynchronous components
