Job Description
The Department of Exercise Science in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University seeks two full-time, tenure-track faculty members at the assistant professor level to begin in the Fall 2024 semester.. These faculty will be an integral part of realignment within the college towards Sport and Health disciplines, and supported by new leadership at both the departmental and college levels.
We encourage creative, dynamic, and passionate candidates with a Ph.D. in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related discipline, and a research focus that complements, strengthens, and/or broadens existing faculty research in the areas of physical activity measurement, biomechanics, neuromuscular function, applied and environmental physiology, chronic disease, and/or disability. To broaden disciplinary representation, the department is especially interested in having one or more candidates with a focus on human athletic performance/performance science and a desire to work with student athlete or community athlete populations. Candidates should have or demonstrate the potential for an outstanding record of research accomplishment, publications, and extramural funding. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, graduate student mentoring, and professional service.

Responsibilities
  • Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and graduate instruction in the Department of Exercise Science.
  • In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will conduct individual and collaborative research relative to one's field of interest; provide academic advising to students; become an active participant in scholarly activities and civic engagement; and effectively handle other responsibilities associated with being a faculty member.
  • The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with other academic units and departments across the academic community.
