Job Description
The Department of Biological and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a tenure-track appointment (nine-month basis) in Biology at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2024.
Applicants should have a background in conservation biology with an emphasis in herpetology, ornithology, mammalogy, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses across the undergraduate/graduate curriculum and maintain an active research program, ideally be able to involve students in his/her scholarly work and serve in developing/revising organismal biology courses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach core lower-level courses and upper-level courses (such as conservation biology, herpetology, ornithology, mammalogy, vertebrate zoology, field biology)
- Establish a research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students.
- Experience with writing grant proposals, obtaining external funding, and recruiting students will be considered additional assets.
- The successful applicant is expected to guide MS theses projects as well as graduate and undergraduate research.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Biology, Conservation Science, or in a closely related field.
- Completed at least 18 graduate hours in the above disciplines of study.
- Skills and commitment to providing high-quality education to student populations are essential.
The Department supports a wide variety of research and teaching scholars and has a strong interest in building our conservation biology program.
